2011 CONFERENCE AND WEEK OF EVANGELISM AND PRAYER

The other week on Saturday many of the leaders from the Northern Chinese Churches got together to talk about things of mutual interest. One of them was the conference that we will have next May which is the weekend after Easter – a bank holiday.

Because many people expressed that they did not want to use their holiday time to come to another conference, it has been decided to have the conference over a weekend so no-one need break into their holiday allowance and all children will be on holiday as well.

This year the conference will include a Mandarin section, so if you cannot get away for the conference in Birmingham, then maybe some of the Mandarin speakers will be able to attend this one.

For the English section this time the speaker will come from Manchester, his name is Chick Yuill and is well-known to be a good speaker. Liverpool Chinese Gospel Church will be in charge of the programme and the advertising.

Put in your diaries that we will be having a week of Evangelism and prayer from October 24 to 31. Each cell group will be praying for the event and we will have a time on the Thursday to pray as a church. On the Saturday 30 October we will have an alternative Halloween Party, so if you’re from the Mandarin Congregation and your English is good – why not join us?

It is intended to make this an event for the family and students, so it will be a follow up for the student welcome and something that will also be family-friendly, something that all people can invite their friends too. We hope that the youth and the Friday Fellowship can get involved with the worship in song and maybe games and sketches. There will also be food based on a theme, which has not been decided yet, but we thought it would be something completely different from what we have done before, maybe use a nationality’s diet as the basis, e.g. Greek or Italian.

The speaker will be Chick Yuill, so this will give us opportunity to get to know him before we go to the 2011 conference. My latest suggestion is that the following day we have a Family service which will also be on a lighter note with a message suitable for young as well as old. That way we can invite anyone who on the Saturday night show interest to come along too.
So start praying about who you will invite.
