Brief Introduction to the logo

In 1999 the council felt that we should have an appropriate logo for our letter heads, something that represented the church and so they initiated a competition open to all the members to choose a new logo. A student a Liverpool University's Arts Department won the competition.

 

The concept came from John 6:18 where Jesus was walking on water, at that time a strong wind was blowing and the waters grew rough. Jesus' disciples had already gone ahead in the boat, but were moving slowly as they were struggling against the wind, then they saw someone walking on water and were terrified. Once the disciples got over the shock of seeing Jesus and realised that this was not his ghost, they welcomed him on board and the boat immediately arrived safely at the water's edge.

 

The meaning of the logo is that our eyes are fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2), who will give us the faith to face both the unknown and the future.

 

The logo an eye with the name of the church over it, the three lines underneath show the water that Jesus has made calm as we put our trust in him.
